According to one theory, Azathtoth, the blind idiot god destined to end all reality, is closer to home then we think. Nor is Azathoth one being. Azathoth, is US, the reader. Think about it, when you read a book with no pictures in it, you must use your imagination to bring the world to life. Lovecraft's stories are no different. As we read the books, we bring everyone and everything to life in our imagination and witness horror, action, suspense, etc unfold in our daydreams. The action is like the beat of maddening drums.
Then when we shut the book and stop dreaming, it all ceases to be and everything we read about becomes a part of our memory until we choose to read again, just like Azathoth waking up and everything becoming him again, or should I I say, become US again? How does it feel, knowing you commited Omnicide on all those people and monsters in the stories? Sleep well kiddos.
