"A Descent to Avernus" is a short non-fiction piece by the late American author Howard Phillips Lovecraft. One of his travelogues, it was written in the summer of 1928 [1] and first saw print in Bacon's Essays, Volume 2, Number 2 in the summer of the following year [2].
