“ | I remember another life, one of sorcery and conquest. | „ |
Agnes Baker, the Waitress, is a character who first appeared in Fantasy Flight Games' Second Edition of Arkham Horror, but who has since gone on to feature in other Arkham Horror Files lines of Cthulhu Mythos-related games and fiction.
History[]
Once nothing more than a waitress at a small-time Arkham diner, when changing a light bulb one day, Agnes fell from the ladder and hit her head, an event which changed her life forever.
Upon awakening at the hospital, she found that the trauma to her head had unlocked memories of a past life untold millennia ago in a strange place called Hyperborea. There, she had been a powerful spellcaster, able to bend the winds of magic to her will. However, the memories also told her that she had been eventually slain by a creature of nightmares.
Finally plucking up the courage to try out one of the spells for herself, to her astonishment she found out that they actually worked. Afterwards, Agnes spent her time quietly developing these new abilities, although she was always careful to do so well away from the prying eyes of others.
Then one night after finishing up at the diner, Agnes stepped out into the street only to be struck by a premonition telling her that the thing which had bested her all those centuries ago was on her trail, and intended to put an end to her once again.
Behind the Mythos[]
Initially included as an Investigator character for the Innsmouth Horror expansion for Arkham Horror, Agnes has also made appearances in Eldritch Horror and Arkham Horror: The Card Game, both companion games to the original. A pre-painted plastic miniature was released in 2010 as part of Fantasy Flight's Arkham Horror Premium Figures line, but this has since been discontinued (all EXP).
