"Ancient Astronauts" is a short Cthulhu Mythos story by American author Cynthia Ward.
Synopsis[]
In 1979 Maine, when a teenage boy is kidnapped by a deranged cult and forced to undergo a mind-transference, his two best friends must devise a plan to rescue him. Although the cultists are successful in calling forth an Elder Thing from the depths of the Earth, the teens manage to defeat it and save their friend.

- Harold Waite, an Innsmouth man who was the nephew of Ephraim Waite, and also a cult leader.
