The Arkham Advertiser is a fictional newspaper created by the late American author Howard Phillips Lovecraft.
Overview[]
The Arkham Advertiser is a local newspaper which, as its name might suggest, services the city of Arkham. Whilst it does not play any appreciable role in Lovecraft's works, other contributors to the Mythos have expanded upon it.
Expanded Mythos[]
Arkham Horror (Fantasy Flight Games)[]
Shown to have an extensive archive, the Arkham Advertiser has covered its fair share of Mythos-related stories, but has also shown a propensity to cover up the more fantastical of disturbing elements of these incidents. Whether this is on purpose as part of a conspiracy or merely an attempt to protect their journalistic reputation from ridicule is unknown.
Staff[]
- Harvey Gedney, owner/editor[1]
- Doyle Jeffries, editor[2][3]
- Rex Murphy, investigative reporter[4][1]
- Minnie Klein, photographer (formerly)[4][1]
- Darrell Simmons, photographer[1]
In Real Life[]
The H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society[]
As part of their Dark Adventure Radio Theatre series, the H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society has commissioned a series of thematic props, several of which are mock-ups of articles from the Advertiser designed to complement the stories.
