Army of Darkness is a 1992 comedy horror film from director Sam Raimi. It is the final instalment in his original Evil Dead series, with a semi-sequel/reboot taking 21 years to make its appearance.
Synopsis[]
Department store clerk Ash Williams once again faces off against the demon contained in the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, which casts him back in time. In medieval England, he must battle an evil version of himself at the head of the titular army of undead, and keep the Necronomicon from destroying the world.
Trivia[]
- Although Army of Darkness features the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis as a central plot device, it is important to note that this is not intended to be the same book as Lovecraft's Necronomicon, and is in fact a tome possessed by a malevolent spirit, written in ancient Sumerian, and bound in human skin.
