"Beyond Zimbabwe" is a horror poem written by H. P. Lovecraft and R. H. Barlow on 23 May 1934. It was published for the first time in the 1990 Lovecraft collection The Fantastic Poetry.
Synopsis[]
The poem describes a dark ritual taking place in a jungle, as a band of cultists led by a mad priest and his acolytes sacrifice people in an altar, to have their bodies and their souls devoured by a mysterious Shadow.
