Lovecraft's works directly. Casefile: Arkham- Nightmare on the Canvas is a Cthulhu Mythos graphic novel which acts as a follow-up to H. P. Lovecraft's "Pickman's Model". Written by Josh Finney, illustrated by Patrick McEvoy and edited by Kat Rocha, it was published by 01Publishing in 2016; both softcover and digital download editions were released.

Synopsis[]

Arkham, 1946: amidst a spree of killings perpetrated by the Arkham Slasher, private eye Hank Flynn is hired by a wealthy woman to find missing artist Richard Upton Pickman. Interspersed with flashbacks of Flynn's wartime service, the investigation leads him to cross paths with psychics, Deep One hybrids and Ghouls, before culminating in a showdown with the murderous Pickman.

Trivia[]

  • Nightmare on the Canvas is littered with references to many of Lovecraft's works, not only those which feature Pickman.
  • Despite the original story apparently being set at around its time of writing in 1926, Nightmare on the Canvas is set only a few weeks after Pickman's disappearance in post-WWII 1946.
