This subject is written on a topic in the real world and reflects factual information. This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. The Chupacabras is a mysterious creature reported from folklore, cryptozoology and popular culture. Its name is Spanish for "goat-sucker" and refers to its alleged habit of killing animals and draining them of their blood. Originating from Puerto Rico, the Chupacabras legend has spread to several areas of North, Central and South America, and even to other continents.

In the Cthulhu Mythos, the creature is described and illustrated in the role-playing game supplement The Bermuda Triangle. The game portrays it as a reptilian semi-humanoid monster reminiscent of the original legend, as opposed to the quadrupedal mangy canine image that has become popular in the United States.

In the Mythos[]

The Chupacabras is a mysterious predator infamous for attacking small animals such as goats, dogs and chickens. It feeds by sucking the blood from its prey. Found exclusively in the countryside, it is never sighted in cities, and doesn't seem to attack humans. Originally reported from Puerto Rico, it has since been sighted in Florida as well, suggesting that there might be an entire species of such creatures, not just a single aberration.
