This unnamed coleopterous species, also known as the post-human beetle race, are a fictional species of sapient beetles created by H. P. Lovecraft for his horror sci-fi novella The Shadow Out of Time. They will evolve in a future era of Earth and are destined to become the next dominant species on the planet after the fall of humanity.
By the time of the coleopterans, the Flying Polyps will be entirely extinct on Earth, so the Great Race of Yith will transfer their minds to the bodies of the coleopterans in order to avoid their enemies. (HPL: The Shadow Out of Time)
