Lovecraft's works directly. Courting Madness is an anthology collection of material for Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu horror roleplaying game. Compiled by Pagan Publishing for GenCon 1992 [1] - from which it was ultimately banned as a result of the suggestive nature of Blair Reynolds' cover art [2]- the book contained resources collected from issues 1 - 3 of gaming magazine The Unspeakable Oath, all of which was first published in 1991 [3].

The production team for Courting Madness included Brian Bevel, John Tynes, and Brian Appleton, cover art was provided by Blair Reynolds, with interior panels by Reynolds, Jeff Barber, and Charlie Mitchell [3]. It ran to a total of 48 pages, and was released in an extremely limited run of 200 copies [4].
