Synopsis[]
Case No. 04: "D&D"[]
While heading towards the middle of Y City, Narukami Chikage witnesses a battle between the man's giant robot arm, whom was referred to as Crow, and a dragon that was summoned by the bloody bandaged woman. Meanwhile at the Asylum, Yoguruma Mugen explained that the robotic arm is a Deus Machina, a mechanical device-god that messes up everything, and the dragon is the embodiment of a forgotten myth, hailing from a world without any romance. Despite only having access to the arm of his Deus Machina, Crow continued to fight the dragon using the Scimitar of Barzai, with the dragon transforming into a smaller flying form in retaliation. Crow fires the power of Cthugha from his pistol but the dragon was too fast to get hit by the attack, leading to Crow using Ithaqua instead, which was able to home in on the target and seemingly destroy it. Shortly afterwards, the dragon regenerated due to the woman using a revival incantation from the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.
As the battle continued, Azana Hatsumi watched in terror as destruction swept through the town; however, Azana herself was protected by a barrier created by the "Elder Sign", an app installed on her D-Phone. After his arrival, Azana begged Narukami to stop the Freaks and prevent the town from being destroyed. When Narukami said that his job is to only protect her, Azana became infuriated, exclaiming that in order to protect her, he would have to save her daily life as well. Thinking to himself, Narukami began to question his own morality, as he was technically only pretending to protect Azana and, if she is actually revealed to be a one of the 13 Horrors, he was ordered to immediately seal her away.
In an attempt to finish him off, the dragon flew towards Y City from the stratosphere, with Crow protecting himself with an Elder Sign. Although it did break his barrier, Crow managed to survive and annihilated the dragon with his finishing move Lemuria Impact. Back at the Asylum, Mugen explained that Crow wasn't infected by Color and the robotic arm is a god of judgement that hates and destroys all Evil Gods but its name was lost over time, now only referred to as "D". Shortly afterwards, Crow killed the bloody bandaged woman by shooting her in the head.
Case No. 05: "The Madman"[]
During his call to the Asylum, Narukami receives a warning to avoid using his Haunter form as much as possible due to his God Erosion being at 76%. Meanwhile, Crow searches for the missing pages of his Necronomicon before he detects the presence of Narukami. Recognizing him as an incarnation of Nyarlathotep, Crow attacks Narukami by slicing him in half. Narukami quickly recovers and tries to reason with Crow, attempting to convince him that they should not enemies, as both of them are fighting against the Evil Gods; however, Crow dismisses his statement and is disgusted by the Asylum for allying with Freaks, proclaiming that all of them need to be destroyed.
Their fight is interrupted by Azana, who punches Crow out of anger for destroying her town, only to hurt her own hand in the process. Despite posing little to no threat, Crow attempts to dispose of Azana before Narukami protects her with his magical vehicle, the Hunting Horror. As the battle continues, Narukami transforms into the Haunter but gets defeated when Crow shoots him with Cthugha, followed by the Haunter being disengaged after his God Erosion exceeded 100%. Although Narukami was able to turn into the Tick-Tock Man, he is quickly defeated again by Crow using the Shining Trapezohedron, reverting Narukami back to his normal state, which was missing half of his body. Crow explains that the Shining Trapezohedron is the very source of power for Nyarlathotep, or beings of chaos, but it's also poisonous to them at the same time.
Back at the Asylum, the doctor is shocked to see that Mugen had escaped from her cell, while also being concerned about Narukami.
Case No. 06: "Legends of the Necronomicon"[]
After witnessing the arrival of Mugen, Narukami went unconscious from his injuries before waking up at the Asylum, where he is restrained for precautionary measures due to him losing control over his Evil God's power. While talking to the doctor, Narukami finds out that Crow was also restrained in a special ward, thanks to the cooperation of Mugen. Narukami scolded the doctor for freeing Mugen, as she was the most dangerous of the Freaks, until the doctor explains that the barrier to her cell was destroyed, with Mugen returning back to her own room and behaving herself, leaving both of them confused. Although his Silver Key was their only defense against Mugen, the doctor still recognized Narukami as a threat to humanity, attaching a clock to him that monitors his levels of Night Chaos; once Narukami completely turns into an Evil God, the Tick-Tock Man will use all of the Asylum's energy to destroy him. Much to Narukami's dismay, the doctor was planning to use both Crow and Mugen to seal the remaining Freaks, as she did not see any other choice.
Azana worried about Narukami's condition after being taken to the Asylum as well. While wondering if she is an enemy or a friend, Azana recalls Mugen defeating Crow by taking control over his grimoire before disassembling his Deus Machina and trapping him with Atlach-Nacha. Meanwhile, Mugen taunted Crow in his cell, revealing that she was the one who stole the most important page of the Necronomicon, the soul of his grimoire known as "Al Azif"; rendering Crow unable to defeat Mugen. The doctor explains to the nurses that the Asylum now has control over Crow, Mugen and Narukami due to their god tools putting each other in a three-way deadlock, referring to them as the "D.Y.N. Freaks".
Case No. 07: "Wild Hunt"[]
Narukami recalls the time he was turned into a Freak, when a malevolent entity named Sphinx forced him to wear the Mask of Nyarlathotep, with Sphinx currently plotting an invasion from an alternate world. The Asylum is infiltrated by Savage Blue, a Tindalos-type Freak that can pass through time and space to appear from any "angle", who wanted to capture Azana. Freed from his cell, Crow begrudgingly agrees to fend off the intruder for the Asylum, due to them gaining possession of Al Azif. Shortly afterwards, Narukami tries to convince the doctor to free him too, as there is likely more than one Freak who had broken in.
Savage Blue quickly retreats before they could fight, leaving Crow to instead face off against Nemesis, a Freak that possesses the power of the evil god Hastur. In order to protect Azana, the doctor frees Narukami and gives him new magical equipment so that he would not have to use the power of Night Chaos. Meanwhile, Mugen observed the events from several monitors in her inner universe until Sphinx arrived to play chess with her, expressing his interest to bring salvation to the universe. Back at Azana's room, Savage Blue emerges from one of the angles but is interrupted by Narukami. Although he was seemingly destroyed by Narukami's magic cannon known as "Dig Me No Grave", Savage Blue quickly comes back to reveal himself as a wolfman, with Narukami recognizing him as an assassin from the underground demon world of K'n-yan. Later, Sphinx told Mugen that he will devour 1000 incarnations in order to become the true god, Nyarlathotep.
