Dagon is a 2001 Spanish film loosely based on H. P. Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth.
Synopsis[]
When two couples are shipwrecked off the coast of Spain, one of the couples is taken by Deep Ones while the other one, Paul and Barbara, both make it to shore. Once there, Barbara is taken, and although Paul manages to track her down - discovering a dark family secret along the way - he is unable to save her. Ultimately attempting suicide by fire, he is dragged off into the depths by a seductive hybrid, where he begins to realize his destiny.

Directed by Stuart Gordon with a screenplay from Dennis Paoli, Dagon was produced by Brian Yuzna, among others. It premiered in Spain on October 31 2001,
Trivia[]
- While The Shadow Over Innsmouth takes place on the shores of 1920s New England, Dagon moves the story to a more contemporary setting and takes place in Spain, the town being named Imboca in this interpretation.
