Dylath-Leen is a bustling trading port and one of the largest cities in the Dreamlands. As well as the usual boats, mule caravans and two wheeled carts that stream constantly through the gates and docks, Dylath-Leen is famous for the comings and goings of the mysterious Black Galleys.

Description[]

The thin angular towers that line the dark streets of Dylath-Leen are built of black basalt and from a distance could be compared to the stones of the Giant's Causeway.

Geography[]

  • On the coast of the Southern Ocean, near the mouth of the River Skai
  • 7 days ride up river from Ulthar.

Residents[]

The streets and sea taverns along the wharves are filled with oddly robed sailors from across the earth and beyond. Though most of the locals' conversation is taken up with rumours about the Black Galleys they can be coaxed to help travellers like Randolph Carter who arrives looking for passage to Oriab.

The Black Galleys[]

Main article: Black Galley

A source of fear and superstition from across the Southern Sea. Though the rubies they bring are essential to the port's economy they are an unwelcome presence and it's this avenue of trade that keeps the people of Ulthar from ever going there. Many smoke thagweed to cover the smell of the ships.
