Fall of Cthulhu Volume 4: Godwar is a comic book omnibus collecting issues 1-4 (15-18 in the overall series) of Godwar, a limited-run instalment of Boom! Studios' Fall of Cthulhu series. Written by Michael Alan Nelson and featuring artwork by Mat Santolouco, the individual issues were published between July and October 2008, with the omnibus collection being released in April 2009.
Despite the title of Godwar, the collection focuses on the movement of the main players into the eleventh hour of the preparations, with the beginning of the war left as a cliffhanger.
Synopsis[]
Chapter 1[]
The Harlot releases Cy Morgan's soul from its box and instructs Lucifer to free him from Arkham hospital, where he has been a patient since shortly after his fiancé Jordan's suicide. Meanwhile, Mr. Arkham has the Horsemen of Nyarlathotep hard at work spreading chaos and devastation across the globe.
Chapter 2[]
Lucifer enlists the help of Raymond Dirk, and the group visit Miskatonic University to learn the location of R'lyeh. A confrontation with Mr. Arkham ends with the three falling into his hands, and Sysyphyx assuming the guise of Cy's dead fiancé to ensure his cooperation.
Chapter 3[]
The madness infecting the world increases as various Cthulhu cults add their own brand of violence, while Mr. Arkham tortures Lucifer and Dirk for his own amusement. Later, Arkham takes the entire group to the recently arisen R'lyeh, where Abdul Alhazred begins the rituals of summoning.
Chapter 4[]
Alhazred offers a potted history of the activities of Cthulhu cults across the globe and throughout human history. Nyarlathotep and Nodens come face-to-face on R'lyeh as Cthulhu begins to rise from his sleep.
