Fanucci Editore is an Italian publishing house based in Rome which specialises in genre fiction, particularly science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Founded in 1971 by Renato Fanucci, the company operated under his direction until his death in 1990, when operations were taken over by his son Sergio.[1]
Between 1985 and 1991, Fanucci published a 38-volume series of books titled I Miti di Cthulhu, or The Myth of Cthulhu, which consisted mostly of anthologies translating English-language works with scattering of original stories. Despite the title of the series, not all of these books were Mythos-related, or even Lovecraftian, in theme, with some instead focusing on a particular horror topic, such as werewolves.[2]
Starting in 1994, the company began releasing Italian translations of tie-in novels for the wildly popular The X-Files supernatural science fiction franchise.[3]
