This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. The Garuda Birds are a species of extra-dimensional avian created by Jason Williams for Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game supplement Secrets of Tibet.

Background[]

Garuda Birds reside in the Dreamlands and occasionally cross over into Tibet's western regions. Enormously strong and agile creatures, they can be summoned and if bound are capable of understanding simple commands. They can carry up to four individuals and are capable of interstellar flight.

Behind the Mythos[]

The name of the Garuda is taken from a steed of the god Vishnu from the Hindu religion [1].
