Gene Rodman Wolfe (7 May 1931 - 14 April 2014) was a prolific American author widely regarded as one of the finest genre writers of his day, winning several awards and receiving nominations for many more. Although his works largely focus of the science fiction and fantasy genres, he also wrote a number of Lovecraftian pieces, such as "Lord of the Land", which was included in anthologies such as Lovecraft's Legacy (1990, Tor), Cthulhu 2000: A Lovecraftian Anthology (1995, Arkham House), and The Book of Cthulhu (2011, Night Shade Press).
