This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. Goblins are part of the folklore of medieval Europe. Chaosium first used them in 1994 for its Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game.

Background[]

Goblins are creatures of the Dreamlands, whom are deformed humanoid fairies of short stature. No two goblins are alike in form (with variations such as pointed or round ears, noses of varying lengths, tusks, humbed backs, more than one head, legs of varying lengths, etc). Goblins are known for stealing children, playing cruel pranks, and selling magic food to unwary humans. For combat they use melee weapons.

Behind the Mythos[]

Chaosium appears to have adapted the concept of goblins as delineated by Christina Rossetti from her poem "Goblin Market".
