"Herbert West and the Mammaries of Madness" is a short Cthulhu Mythos story by author Dixie Pinoit. Inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's short story "Herbert West--Reanimator", it was included in the James Ward Kirk Publishing thematic anthology Lovecraft after Dark in November 2015.
Synopsis[]
When the unnamed narrator's ravishing new wife Elena is struck dead by a cart in the street, doctors Herbert West and Dan Cain arrive on the scene to administer to her with suspicious speed. Convincing the man that they will be able to reverse her condition, they transport the corpse to West's laboratory.
There, they inject the dead woman with West's signature serum, which inexplicably allows her to extrude tentacles from her nether regions and indulge in carnal relations with all three men at once.
In the aftermath, Elena embarks on a career of sexual indulgence while her husband, repulsed by his wife's new appetites, leaves her.
Trivia[]
- The character of Dan Cain is never named in the original story, only being given the name in Stuart Gordon's 1985 film adaptation.
