Independent races are one of the three categories employed to classify species in the role-playing game Call of Cthulhu, along with servitor races and fabulous creatures. Unlike servitor races, independent races are not intrinsically associated with one particular deity. While some might be irreligious, others might still form cults.
The game further classifies them as "Greater Independent Races" or "Lesser Independent Races", depending on the danger posed by an average individual of the species.
