James Ambuehl is an American writer, poet and editor who has made a number of contributions to the H. P. Lovecraft-inspired Cthulhu Mythos. He has also written under the pseudonym Lew Cthew.
Many of Ambuehl's Mythos works are set in or around the town of Braving, Minnesota, a fictional locale created for this particular purpose.
Although unconfirmed at the time of writing, it would appear likely that he is somehow related to author and poet Tracy Ambuehl, with whom he has written several short stories and poems.
