Jim Culver, also known as the Musician, is a character created by Fantasy Flight Games for their Arkham Horror Files series of Cthulhu Mythos releases. He made his debut appearance in the Dunwich Horror expansion for the second edition of Arkham Horror.
Overview[]
A young black man from New Orleans, Jim Culver inherited a trumpet from his father, one which has caused him no end of trouble: despite being a talented trumpeter, playing the instrument allows him to commune with the dead, and even, on occasion, raise them to life. He also appears to be accepted by the graveyard ghouls, and has been known to exchange information with them.
Behind the Mythos[]
Since his debut, Culver has appeared in several Fantasy Flight releases, including Eldritch Horror (Horrific Journeys expansion), Elder Sign and Arkham Horror: The Card Game. In 2010 a pre-painted plastic miniature of the character was released as part of the Arkham Horror Premium Figures line, but this has since been discontinued.
Trivia[]
- Culver made a cameo appearance in Graham McNeill's novel Ghouls of the Miskatonic, in which he and Marie Lambeau performed a set at a speakeasy attended by two of the main characters.
