John Gregory Betancourt is an American author and editor, and is the co-founder of Wildside Press, an indie publication house who have printed numerous works from a wide spectrum of the Cthulhu Mythos.
Betancourt has worked as both author of science fiction, fantasy and mystery, and editor of various publications at several points in his career. After a stint as assistant editor at Amazing Stories from 1985-87, he co-founded a literary agency along with Darrell Schweitzer and George Scithers where the three licensed the Weird Tales name from Weird Tales, Ltd and revived the magazine.
Founding Wildside Press in 1989 with his future wife Kim, he published books through the imprint whilst taking a break from editing to care for their first child. In 2005, he acquired Weird Tales in its entirety, which he has published through Wildside ever since.
