Karl Edward Wagner (12 December 1945 – 14 October 1994) was an American writer, editor, and publisher of horror, science fiction, and fantasy fiction. He created the character of the immortal swordsman Kane, edited the book series The Year's Best Horror Stories from 1980 to 1994, and published a three-volume set of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian fiction as it was originally written.
His Cthulhu Mythos-related fiction includes the short stories "Sticks", collected in Tales of the Cthulhu Mythos; "The River of Night's Dreaming", which appears in The Hastur Cycle; and "I've Come to Talk With You Again", found in The New Lovecraft Circle. Other works include novels featuring Robert E. Howard’s characters Conan and Bran Mak Morn.
