Kathulos was a fictional character by Marvel Comics and first appeared in Marvel Premiere #8 (May, 1973), written by Gardner Fox and Jim Starlin. Kathulos was also named Kulthas.
Both names were created by Robert E. Howard: The Atlantean sorcerer Kathulos (CIRCLE: "Skull-Face") and the evil deity Kulthas (CIRCLE: "The Curse of the Golden Skull"). Kulthas was invoked in Marvel Comics' Conan stories.
"L'mur-Kathulos" was also listed along with various eldritch entities and locations (HPL: "The Whisperer in Darkness")
It is unknown how and if Kathulos the Slave-Seer is related to the others. (EXP: Savage Sword of Conan #8 "The Forever Phial")
History[]
Kathulos/Kulthas was a vegetation covered planetoid, in the service of Shuma Gorath.
When he brought Dr. Strange to the planetoid and battled him, Dr. Strange discovered his weakness and upon ripping out its roots, Kathulos died.
Powers and abilities[]
Powers[]
He could fire powerful mystical bolts, mesmerize others, and fight its enemies in the Astral Plane. Those it entranced risked having their life force absorbed. It was able to control and physically manipulate the vegetation on its surface.
Weaknesses[]
His only weakness was the fact that a giant Venus Fly Trap-like plant contained its life force and, like any other plant, could be injured.
