This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. Kaunuzoth is a fictional creature introduced in R. S. Cartwright's story "The Moore Dam Monster"--a squat, sea cucumber-like monstrosity with five eyes, three-toed, taloned appendages, and a large mouth. He is described as one of Gla'aki's brethren, and dwells within the Moore Reservoir of Vermont, in the United States.

Behind the Mythos[]

The Moore Dam in real life is connected to Lake Champlain, home to an alleged lake monster dubbed "Champ." Moore Dam itself was the scene of a reported sighting of a glowing alligator-like monster decades ago,[1] and this may well be the inspiration for this Mythos creature. It has been suggested that the real life Moore Dam Monster was a Northern Pike, a highly aggressive predatory river fish.[2]
