Keyport, New Jersey, is a fictionalised town in the United States. It has featured in a number of expanded Cthulhu Mythos stories, and is the primary setting for Armand Rosamilia's Keyport Cthulhu story cycle.
Overview[]
A small town on the shore of New Jersey, Keyport's primary industry appears to be fishing. It is a decrepit and backwards place, many of its buildings being rotten and hiding a labyrinthine network of tunnels and cellars beneath the ground.
Keyport is under the sway of the Esoteric Order of Dagon, a cult which came to town from Innsmouth, Massachusetts. Despite the Order's name, they are dedicated to bringing about the return of the Great Old One Cthulhu.
Places of Note[]
Broad Street Pub[]
A 150-year-old bar that has seemingly not been renovated in decades. It has been in the Murphy family for nine generations, with the eldest son of each generation taking on ownership, along with the name Dylan Murphy.
The Broad Street Pub also functions as the meeting point and perhaps headquarters of the Keyport branch of the Esoteric Order of Dagon, with the current Dylan Murphy being the cult's leader.
Keyport Bay[]
Keyport's industrial heart, if such a thing could be said of the town. The bay area incorporates extensive docks and is home to Keyport Fishery.
Keyport Bay is also home to a sleeping leviathan, said to be Cthulhu himself.
Behind the Mythos[]
Keyport was created by American author Armand Rosamilia for his short story "Ancient" in 2012. It is a fictionalised version of a real-world location, with the elements of decay and degeneracy exaggerated for dramatic effect.
