Klenze

Lieutenant Klenze is a fictional character in the story "The Temple" by H. P. Lovecraft. He was a lieutenant and second-in-command serving aboard the German submarine U-29 under Lieutenant-Commander Karl Heinrich during the First World War. At the culmination of the supernatural events experienced by the crew of the submarine, Klenze and Heinrich were the only men aboard left alive by the time the disabled U-29 came to rest among the underwater ruins of an Atlantean city. Klenze eventually went mad and took his own life by exiting the submarine.
