Description[]

Measuring about 3 ft. (~ 91 cm) long from snout to tail end, Lamp-efts are floating salamander-like creatures with webbed feet, laterally flattened tails and luminous bodies, complete with a pair of globular eyes that emit beams of light like an electric torch. They naturally inhabit the upper atmosphere of the Earth's Dreamlands, and descend to the ground only at night.

Lamp-efts have no mouth and feed solely on the energy generated by all living things. As they require only small amounts of food, they are not usually dangerous. In fact, Lamp-efts are often kept as pets, known for their inquisitive and companionable nature. However, they might be capable of draining the energy of smaller animals to the point of rendering the prey unconscious for several hours, or even an entire day. The light generated by Lamp-efts contributes to their popularity among occultists by providing a line of defense against a number of Mythos entities that can only move about in darkness.

Lamp-efts propel themselves through the air with their feet and tail. Although the organ that allows them to defy gravity is analogous to the hune of the Byakhee, the Lamp-efts' don't share the former's ability to travel through interplanetary space. (EXP: S.
