I've played so many roles. Madness is to be expected.

Lola Hayes, the Actress, is a character created by Fantasy Flight Games for inclusion in their Arkham Horror Files line of games and fiction set within the greater Cthulhu Mythos.

History

After her last show - a bizarre play full of ritualistic chanting and disturbing masks - Lola decided to admit herself into a sanatorium; the nightmares had just been too much to bear, and she feared for her mental wellbeing.

However, when she had read the article in the newspaper about how the director of that play had hung himself, she decided that she needed to look into things for herself. So, once again securing herself a role in the production, she surreptitiously strapped on her derringer and went back to work.

Behind the Mythos

Although first created for Fantasy Flight's Kingsport Horror expansion for their Second Edition of the Arkham Horror board game, she has since appeared in other games of theirs related the Mythos, including Eldritch Horror and Arkham Horror: The Card Game. In addition, a plastic miniature intended to replace the cardboard counters included in the game boxes was released as part of their Arkham Horror Premium Figures line, but production of this has since been halted (all EXP).

Trivia

  • Whilst not explicitly mentioned to be so, the play which drove Lola to commit herself to the institution is heavily implied to have been The King in Yellow.
