Lovecraft Country is an HBO TV series released in 2020 that explores issues of American racism through the lens of the Cthulhu Mythos. It was adapted from Matt Ruff's 2016 novel of the same name.

Synopsis[]
Episode 1: "Sundown"[]

Atticus Green, a Korean War veteran, returns home to find his father Montrose missing. Among his possessions, he discovers a letter which leads him to believe he may have travelled to the town of Ardham, Massachusetts (which was at first misread as Arkham). Along with his uncle George Freeman and his friend Leti Lewis, Atticus embarks on a road trip to uncover his heritage. After a series of encounters with bigoted locals, the trio are apprehended by a lynch mob and dragged off into the woods. Before the mob has a chance to enact their violence, however, a pack of monstrous creatures attacks the group, seemingly under the control of an unseen benefactor; although the protagonists make their escape, the mob is torn to pieces, and Atticus and his friends find their way to a stately home and its welcoming tenant.
