Ludvig Prinn is a character created by H. P. Lovecraft's friend and contemporary Robert Bloch. He was first mentioned in the short story "The Secret in the Tomb" in May 1935.
Description[]
An alchemist and practitioner of black magic during the Middle Ages, Prinn apparently used his knowledge of dark sorcery to prolong his life for at least two centuries. (CIRCLE: "The Shambler from the Stars")
Prinn is the author of the occult text De Vermis Mysteriis, which would go on to appear in a host of Mythos stories over the years since its creation.
History[]
Prinn was captured during the Ninth Crusade in 1271 and held captive in Syria, where he learned much from the sorcerers of that country. He later travelled through Libya and Egypt, before being burned at the stake in Brussels for apparent human sacrifice. (CIRCLE: "The Shambler from the Stars", "Fane of the Black Pharaoh")
In his later years Prinn was attended by a number of invisible creatures he kept as his loyal servants. (CIRCLE: "The Shambler from the Stars")
Descendants[]
- Abigail Prinn, a witch and secret priestess of the being known as Nyogtha who was executed in 1690 (CIRCLE: "The Salem Horror").
- Ezekiel Prinn, a cultist in the modern day (EXP: "Wilbur Whateley Waiting").
