𝓦𝐓 Manly Wade Wellman (21 May 1903 – 5 April 1986) was a prolific pulp fiction writer, noted for his science fiction and fantasy writing for Weird Tales and other outlets. His Cthulhu Mythos homage "The Terrible Parchment", which featured the Necronomicon trying to make itself real through the power of collective belief, was published in the August 1937 issue of Weird Tales, and dedicated "to the memory of H. P. Lovecraft, with all admiration".
Wellman created the recurring characters Judge Pursuivant and John Thunstone, both psychic detectives, and the backwoods minstrel John the Balladeer.
Wellman's literary executor was the writer and editor Karl Edward Wagner.
