  • You were asking about Tuomas Saloranta. His storit Mahtavat Ammoiset (Great Old Ones), take place in an universe where both H.P. Lovecraft and his mythos exist. A group of Deep Ones exist within the story.

  • Hello, could capitalise the infobox_character2 and while doing so i compared it with infobox_character for which i made the following changes:

I added the field "Offspring" to it since it seemed relevant but I kept the label "mate" instead of "spouse" since I'm not sure the concept of "espousing" could be used for eldritch creatures.

I did not keep the "last" appearance field since it's virtually impossible to keep track of which expansion or publication used a Great Old One in the world, especially considering they are public domain character so one does not even require a license to publish it.

At some point, I think i'll remove the depreciated "race" field since there also is the "species" one which has a less controversial name.

I also don't think it is necessary to have "unknown" appear in the fields as a default or to have the fields "imagewidth" and "imagecaption" since most of the largest fandom.com wikis don't. I believe it has become depreciated since the template's creation.

If you agree with all those points, i think we can just keep using the standard "infobox character" going forward. Then, I think i'll delete "infobox character2" entirely after it stops being used on the wiki --which can be verified by searching "Template:Infobox character2" with Special:WhatLinksHere-- since it would only be causing confusion in my humble opinion.

But i'm still open to discussion.

    Regards

    • Sure, I’ll just stop using character2 then. I’m in total agreement with you on the Last and Unknown fields, and to be honest, when I first saw the Race field I did something of a double-take. I’ll get round to changing the articles I’ve used Character2 on shortly.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop!

    • Okay, that’s me switched all Character2 infoboxes over to Character if you’re wanting to get rid of it,

  • Hi,

After glancing through some of your contributions, here is some feedback below. In other circumstances, I don't think I would have pointed those things out to a contributor since I honestly don't see any as a major issue. But since I understand that you wanted a very open communication here are my nitpicks:

    • Maybe you could give meaningful name to pictures when you create them instead of random strings? And add the source and/or artist in the file description if you remember what it is? (otherwise I'll get around to tracking what it could be at some point but that's not always that easy)
    • I noticed that you put more characters than was necessary for the infoboxes' images. See my change to understand what I mean there.
    • I also noticed that many of the infoboxes you added did not have linebreaks, but it's something you only see in the Source editor so it has no impact for the common reader. See here.
    • If you could use the prefixes template (like this {{HPL}}) or even an hyperlink (e.g. [[HPL]]) that would be nice. It's easier to do in the Source than the Visual Editor Mode, i'm afraid.

But once again, I don't see any of it as very important since I consider putting info into the wiki to be an obviously much higher priority that the "administrative" side of editing. Especially with a wiki that is still very barebones, in my opinion.

Before I work on the character infoboxes, could you tell me from which wiki you are reusing information? I could check their own templates structures to help you importing the content.

    Regards

    • That’s great, thanks! That’s really put my mind at ease, knowing that I’ve not done anything major (yet...).

In my defence about the pictures, I work from an iPad, and as far as I know there’s no way to actually change the name of a picture on the device itself, so I’ve just forgotten to do so when submitting them, but I’ll try and be more diligent in changing names when they’re uploaded. As for the remainder, I’ll do my best to keep up with it!

The wiki I’ve imported stuff from is https://monster.fandom.com/wiki/Monster_Wiki, but I can save you some time there, as nobody ever uses templates. I experimented with them a while ago, but as the initiative was never taken up, I ended up abandoning the idea.

I hope this message finds you well,
