The Minions of Karakal are a species created by Chaosium for their Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game.
Description[]
The Minions of Karakal are supernatural beings that resemble floating spheres of electricity native to the Dark Dimension. They are about 3 feet in diameter, red and black in color, with spidery legs shaped like lightning bolts that undulate rhythmically and can deliver lethal electric discharges. Like their name indicates, they worship the Great One known as Karakal.
The Minions of Karakal feed on electricity and have an affinity for dry environments, as humidity causes them to gradually dissipate over a period of weeks. Under rainfall, they are destroyed within minutes.
Behind the Mythos[]
Created by Sandy Petersen, the Minions of Karakal made their first appearance in the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game supplement H. P. Lovecraft's Dreamlands in 1986. They have also appeared in S. Petersen’s Field Guide to Lovecraftian Horrors, and their statistics were reprinted in the monster manual Ye Booke of Monstres II.
