Modiphius Entertainment is a U.K.-based traditional games manufacturer who publish a wide range of material for a host of different franchises, with one of their flagship ranges being a highly-popular series of Cthulhu Mythos tabletop games.
Overview[]
Founded in 2012/2013 [1][2] by husband and wife Chris and Rita Birch for the purpose of publishing the first Achtung! Cthulhu supplement for Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu horror roleplaying game and Pinnacle Entertainment's generic Savage Worlds system [1], a successful Kickstarter campaign allowed Modiphius to continue with the series and, eventually, to branch out. In 2023, the company cut ties with Chaosium and Pinnacle's properties, reissuing Achtung! Cthulhu as a stand-alone roleplaying game using their in-house 2D20 rules system. They have also published a Roman-era roleplaying game, Cohors Cthulhu, along with tie-in tabletop wargames for both Mythos properties, and even a related video game.
Since these humble beginnings, they have published large amounts of original material and franchise tie-in expansions, including games for such global properties as Dune, Fallout, John Carter, Star Trek, The Elder Scrolls, Airfix, Mass Effect, Thunderbirds, Conan the Barbarian, and Kung-Fu Panda.
