Overview[]

An ancient woman at the time of her death, Mother Shub lived in a ramshackle, single-room hut in the West Virginia forests known to the locals as Shub's Woods. There, she plied her trade as a local witch doctor, providing the nearby hillbilly families with basic medical care and potions with a variety of effects amongst other seevices in exchange for goods and services. She also operated a moonshine still near to her home, and kept a small number of scrawny black goats.

Although the locals feared Mother Shub and the powers she possessed, they appeared to be unaware that she was in fact a cultist devoted to the worship of Shub-Niggurath, from whom she was granted her gifts. When the time came for her to be with her god, she passed her power on to young Dora McCain, a local girl apprenticed to Mother Shub since the death of her ma.

Later, it is shown that rather than die, Mother Shub was instead transformed into a seductive inhuman entity which inhabits another dimension and accepts the gifts of male souls from her former apprentice in the name of her dark god (EXP: "Mother's Little Helper").
