This subject contains information from the "Lovecraft Circle" Myth Cycles, and while guided by HPL are not based on his work alone. Mrs. Updike was a housekeeper employed by the scientist Crawford Tillinghast. She was killed and her body disintegrated (along with the servant Gregory) by a malevolent alien entity that was summoned as a result of Crawford's experiments involving the opening of dimensional gates.
