"Mysterious Ways" is a short horror story by the late American author C. J. Henderson.
Synopsis[]
A Roman centurion newly arrived at a garrison on ancient Britain pleas to any god who will listen when his camp is overrun by barbarians. However, the entity which answers has a price for this aid: as the centurion has decided who lives and who dies, he must remain as a servant on earth, forever choosing the fate of those who go to war.
