Overview[]

Consisting of adaptations of three of Lovecraft’s works - "The Rats in the Walls", "Cool Air" and "The Whisperer in Darkness", each of which featured a different director at the helm - connected by an original wraparound story, Necronomicon: Book of the Dead is an English-language film and runs to a total of 96 minutes.

Segments[]

  • "The Library": starring screen Mythos regular Jeffrey Combs as H. P. Lovecraft himself, "The Library" acted as the wraparound segment and involves a fictionalised Lovecraft reading stories from a copy of the Necronomicon held in a monastery. Directed by Brian Yuzna.
  • "The Drowned": purporting to be an adaptation of "The Rats in the Walls", it features a character named Edward De Lapoer, although he is placed in a different setting and storyline. Directed by Christophe Gans.
  • "The Cold": a fifty-minute black-and-white take on "Cool Air". Directed by Shûsuke Kaneko.
  • "Whispers": adapted from "The Whisperer in Darkness". Also directed by Brian Yuzna.
