This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. Nemesis, whose name as a mortal was Hadron, is a character created by Michael Alan Nelson for his Fall of Cthulhu series of Mythos comic books. Nemesis made his first appearance in the very first issue of Fall of Cthulhu, titled "Harlot", although he played little part in the events of the main story arc, his character being fleshed out somewhat in the prequel spin-off Fall of Cthulhu Volume 6: Nemesis.

History[]

Hadron was the D'harin, or high priest of Vesh, in Atlantis in the days leading up to the sinking of that once-proud civilisation. He was blindsided by the Oracle Sysyphyx, who was herself in league with the Outer God Nyarlathotep, and tricked into overthrowing his brother, the King, through a series of complex schemes.

Ultimately, the Oracle's prophecy bore fruit: Hadron was the last of his people, bore witness to the destruction of his civilisation, and later became immortal like a god when Nyarlathotep transformed him into an undying housecat for his own amusement (EXP: Fall of Cthulhu Volume 6: Nemesis).

In the modern day Hadron, now going by the name of Nemesis, assisted Nyarlathotep's avatar Mr. Arkham by stealing the Gray Man's knife from the Arkham Police Department lockup. In the aftermath of the war between Nyarlathotep and Nodens he declared himself the victor, as he was the only "god" left undefeated. However, he played no part in the actual war and, being in effect a housecat, had nothing to gain from this declaration, nor any way to force his will upon the world.
