The Pacific Ocean features in the Cthulhu Mythos mainly as the location of the sunken city of R'lyeh, where Cthulhu lies dreaming. Lovecraft gives R'lyeh's coordinates as 47°9'S 126°43'W (HPL: "The Call of Cthulhu"); August Derleth writes that it is instead at 49°51'S 128°34'W. (AWD: "The Black Island").
The Pacific, the largest ocean on Earth, lies between North America, South America, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica.
