🔀 This article is about the comic story, for the city of H. P. Lovecraft's birth, see Providence, Rhode Island

This subject is written on a topic in the real world and reflects factual information. This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. Providence is a twelve-issue comic book limited series, written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Jacen Burrows, published by Avatar Press. It is set in the same continuity as the "The Courtyard" and the 4-issue Neonomicon series, both also written by Moore.

The premise of Providence is that Lovecraft's stories are loosely based on the experiences of Robert Black, a gay Jewish journalist who is exploring New England in hopes of garnering material for a novel based on occult outsiders. This conceit allows Moore to rework Lovecraft's familiar fictions in his own unique style.
