The Providence Pals were a group of H. P. Lovecraft enthusiasts who shared their mutual interest during the latter part of the 20th century. They were so named for their periodical meetings in Providence, Rhode Island. The group was formed by the members to allow them visit and re-visit sites related to Lovecraft's life and works in like-minded company.
Robert M. Price, in his introduction to the Michaelmas 1985 edition of Crypt of Cthulhu names the Pals as Marc A. Michaud, S. T. Joshi, Jason Eckhardt, Donald R. Burleson, Peter H. Cannon, Mollie Werba, himself, Ken Neily, and Sam Gafford, although his wording suggests that there may have been more whom he did not list. In the back cover text for his 2015 collection Providence Pals: Memories and Miscellany, Sam Gafford adds the names of Steven J. Mariconda, Will Murray, and Robert H. Knox.
Price states the group coalesced in the late 1970s, with Gafford stating that he was invited to come to Providence in 1982, when he joined [1].
