The Rat God is a fictional monster created by Richard Corben for his comic book series of the same name, where it serves as the mysterious deity venerated by the people of Lame Dog, Massachusetts.
Description[]
Native to the woods in the vicinity of Arkham, the Rat God resembles a bear-sized rodent with a bare rat skull for a head. Its origins are unknown, but it has been alive since prehistory. This carnivorous beast devours humans and demands sacrifices of its cultists, which seem to be somehow linked to it. Many citizens of Lame Dog in the early 20th century displayed rat-like facial features themselves. The Rat God is also served by a swarm of oversized rats. Additionally, it might be associated with a type of fungus that revives the dead bodies of its followers, allowing them to live again for several generations.
The Rat God can dig under the ground at prodigious speed. It is strong enough to charge at an accelerating car and topple the vehicle, suffering no apparent damage from the collision. (EXP: Rat God)
