Lovecraft's works directly. 🐙 Richard Corben (1940 - 2020) was an American artist, writer, publisher, and animator, who authored several comic book adaptations of H. P. Lovecraft's works, including "The Rats in the Walls", "Herbert West: Reanimator" and the anthology series H. P. Lovecraft's Haunt of Horror. His original story Rat God is set in the Cthulhu Mythos as well. His other works notably include the graphic novel Bloodstar (based on "The Valley of the Worm", by Robert E. Howard) and DC Comics' adaptation of The House on the Borderland, by William Hope Hodgson.

Over the course of a long and acclaimed career, Corben has illustrated stories of Conan, Vampirella, Hellboy, John Constantine, Batman, and many others. He is perhaps most well known for his work in the Heavy Metal magazine, including the saga of Den, which features a Cthulhu-like deity called Uhluhtc.
