Robert Harrison Blake is the fictional alter ego of real-life author Robert Bloch. This alter ego was created by H. P. Lovecraft and placed as the protagonist of the story "The Haunter of the Dark". It is primarily based on Robert Bloch but also incorporates elements of the personality and history of H. P. Lovecraft himself, as well as author Clark Ashton Smith.
This alter ego creation was a friendly parody of Robert Bloch by Lovecraft following their correspondence by mail.
Lovecraft's tale "The Haunter of the Dark" names five stories written by Robert Blake: "The Burrowers Beneath"; "Shaggai"; "The Stairs in the Crypt"; "In the Vale of Pnath" and "The Feaster from the Stars". These are all references to real published works written by Robert Bloch.
