Synopsis[]
Rural English doctor William Currie is brought a man named Malvern, gripping a star-shaped stone and gibbering in the throes of madness. Looking into his movements prior to his delirium, the doctor learns that Malvern had been investigating a ruined priory and had prised the stone from an ancient casket which he had discovered there.
Becoming aware of his past history as an occultist, Currie contacts two of Malvern's old acquaintances and begins to realise what he had been involved in. The occultists and the doctor then track down the creature before it is able to increase its power by through the consumption of human life-essence and use the star-stone to force it back inside its casket, sealing it once again and dropping it to the bottom of the ocean.
