This subject contains information from the "Lovecraft Circle" Myth Cycles, and while guided by HPL are not based on his work alone. The space-devils are a fictional alien species mentioned by H. P. Lovecraft in the novella The Mound.

Description[]

The K'n-yanians, who are worshipers of Tulu and Yig, claim that the space-devils are "hostile alike to men and to men's gods", and blame them for the great sinking that "submerged the gods themselves, including great Tulu, who still lay prisoned and dreaming in the watery vaults of the half-cosmic city Relex".

At some point much later in time, the space-devils returned to Earth and caused most of the world's landmasses to sink, with the only human survivors being the space-devils' own agents. This led the K'n-yanians to isolate themselves and cut off all traffic with the surface, as they believed all surviving humans were their enemies. (HPL: The Mound)

Behind the Mythos[]

Lovecraft's space-devils are similar to the Elder Gods, as portrayed by August Derleth and others. Like the space-devils, the Elder Gods are enemies of the Great Old Ones, deemed responsible for imprisoning Cthulhu in sunken R'lyeh.
